I’m Back From Mexico

I’m back from Mexico! I had a good vacation. I’m relaxed and rejuvenated; I’m ready to get back to work, get back to Thousandaire, and get back to building my new website that is still a few weeks (or months) away from completion.

Here are some pictures from my trip:

A Week Vacation is Awesome

I took a full week to go to Mexico with my girlfriend. We had some great food, hung out by the biggest pool in the entire country of Mexico, did some snorkeling, and just had a great time.

I didn’t have any access to work, websites, or even email. Heck, I had zero contact with America whatsoever. We could have gone to war with China while I was on that trip and I wouldn’t have heard about it unless someone told me.

Before this trip, I felt frustrated with work, both my day job and my websites. I needed a week off to clear my head and get myself back into the game.

I’m pretty sure it worked.

Ease Frustration with a Vacation

If you are feeling frustrated with your life, you might want to take a vacation. It doesn’t have to be a week long and it doesn’t have to be in Mexico. It could simply be a 3-day weekend reading your favorite book.

I just recommend you turn off your cell phone and ignore your email, twitter and facebook. When you go on vacation, really GO ON VACATION.

Readers: When is the last time you took a vacation? Where did you go and what did you do? Did you get to swim with a turtle named Michelangelo? Did you go with a lady as beautiful as Tag?

  1. Welcome back! Going on awesome vacations is great motivation for me to stick to my financial goals. That fresh water cave looks amazing!

I’m headed to Chicago for my 5 year wedding anniversary. White Sox, Sears tower, that funky reflective sculpture are all in my future.

PS Michelangelo looks like a stud. I name the cool wildlife on vacations too. Normally they are Henry’s.

    1. Have fun in Chicago. I’ve been there many times and there’s so much to do.

I like to name animals after pop culture characters. He’s Michelangelo because of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

  2. Awesome turtle pic! The last time I went on vacation was to mexico – well, out of the country anyway. That was two whole years ago! I need to get out of dodge more often.

  3. My last vacation was begining of March (for my 4 year anniversary). We did a cruise that did Honduras, Belize and Mexico. It was nice not being connected to the real world. It is possibly the last vacation (for a while) that I get to really not have to worry about anything since it also doubled as a baby-moon (some sort of made up girl holiday). As far as traveling companions I’d say I did pretty good since my beautiful wife was there and she was sporting a lovely pregancy glow.

Glad you rnjoyed your trip and got to clear your head. You are right there is really nothing like a week of destressing in another place!

    1. A cruise sounds like a lot of fun. One of these days I’m going to take one. Congrats on the anniversary and on the new baby!

sounds like you had a great time and that turtule is HUGE! I havent been on vacation in a while, but am going out of town over memorial day. I will say that not having the internet is great for getting other stuff done.

    1. Yeah it was a pretty serious turtle. Have fun on Memorial Day. I’ll be seeing you in Denver a little after Labor Day for FINCON!

    1. That’s the best way to do it. Especially if you are on vacation with the only people you want to talk to. 🙂

  5. This Aggie Saves

My last vacation was last summer, a two night trip to the coast. Was short and sweet, but nice.

    1. I love short vacations. They get me rejuvenated but I don’t feel like I’ve missed everything when I get back.

  6. Gorgeous pictures!

I went to the Cancun area in November (we nursed and released a baby sea turtle we named Teresa– Maybe Michelangelo’s daughter?) , but our most recent vacation was last month to England for a friend’s wedding. We got to see Stonehenge and Shakespeare’s everything (birth-house, grave, adulthood house, childhood school, daughter’s house, etc) and see Twelfth Night at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and eat lots of amazing food.

We live on a tight budget at home, but as a result we put enough aside each month to take awesome, extravagant international vacations once or twice per year. It’s a balance that we love!

    1. If vacations are what you love, then it sounds like you’re living right. That sounds like an incredible trip to England!

  7. Last year, I took just 4-5 days to go to New Orleans. Great trip! I need 2-3 weeks just to unwind.

  8. Welcome back. It looks like you had a blast. We’re going on some camping trips (we just bought a camper) this summer and am really looking forward to them. Seeing pictures and hearing stories of ‘getting away’ is making me all the more excited.

  9. I haven’t been out of the country for several years, but I drove down from Long Island to Washington DC last fall for a week and it was fine. No swimming with Michelangelos, but I saw the Leonardo at the National Gallery. Must say TAG looks really beautiful in picture 2.

But I find even a weekend day spent in New York (which I do once or twice a month) is a very nice way to take a mini-vacation, and there’s always something interesting to do.

We will be going on vacation in November for just over a week. We’re heading to Florida for a wedding, then hopping on a 6-day Carribean Cruise on the cheap. I’m excited to NOT have cell phone reception for a while. I have a rule that we only have one cell phone on vacations, and it’s only for emergencies. It helps A LOT to be unplugged for a week and go somewhere where the only noise you hear is the ocean 🙂 Especially for us Seattle-ites who get like 4 sunny days a year!!

A vacation sounds like just what I need right now. Sunny Mexico sounds perfect as well. I think I’ll start looking for some rental properties.

  12. I last went on vacation a couple of months ago. Some friends from college visited and then we all went to another city to visit some other friends from college. It was a ton of fun! We put all 4 of us (me + 3 guys) in one hotel room and it was good times.

Glad you had a good vacation 🙂
