If you’re planning a visit or a relocation to Florida, you’ll want to learn about some of the things that make Florida special. Although visiting Disney World is lots of fun, that’s not all Florida offers. Here are some places you should visit while you’re in Florida.

1. ICON Park

You find this park easily while driving on Orlando’s I-Drive after dark. There’s a 400-foot neon-studded Wonder Wheel and an interactive water fountain. You can visit the Museum of Illusions or Madame Tussaud’s. This park is free to explore..

2. Kennedy Space Center

If you’re curious about space travel, you should visit here. You can watch IMAX movies about our solar system. If you’ve dreamed of a space voyage, the Astronaut Training Center will allow you to experience what an astronaut trainee might feel. Or, try the Shuttle Launch Center, where you’ll simulate a shuttle launch.

3. Gator Land

Are you fascinated by alligators and want to see them in their natural habitat? In this park, you’ll observe alligators from a safe distance, and enjoy other adventures with your family. There’s zip lining, and you can hike into the swampland to observe other wildlife.

4. Blue Spring State Park

If you want to relax, the calm clear waters here should be your destination. You can rent a kayak, go snorkeling or swim with manatees. Hike the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail or the other mountain trails.

5. Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino

Just north of Miami, this racetrack features daily thoroughbred and greyhound racing. You can wager on races here, or bet on simulcast races. Inside the casino, you’ll wager on slots and table games.

6. Salvador Dalí Museum

Art lovers with a taste for the surreal can drive to Tampa to see Dali’s artwork. There are 1000s of his paintings and his photos. The museum building is also a work of art. It resembles a shimmering blue half-circle straddling a building.

7. Job Opportunities

Florida has many opportunities for jobs. Because of Florida’s entertainment and tourist industries, many jobs are available. There are also jobs at aviation and aerospace centers. Miami is currently emerging as “the crypto capital of the world,” so many financial positions are also available.

8. Custom Golf Carts

Neighborhood travel is easy in Florida. Florida’s golf carts can be driven on roads that divide subdivisions or golf courses – so keep an eye out for them. Sports news website Essentially Sports reported the current world record for a custom golf cart at 118 mph.

9.  Green Cards

American citizens are able to provide their non-American spouses with lawful permanent residency (also called a “Green Card”.) This practice is widespread in Florida due to its proximity to the Caribbean countries. You must verify your relationship and prove your ability to support your spouse. To cite one relevant statistic: in 2020, almost 166,000 U.S. citizens facilitated permanent residency for their spouses.

13. New Roof Designs

Because of increased temperatures in Florida, the costs of cooling your home could be prohibitive. Therefore, many Floridians use metal roofing for their homes. Because these roofs reflect UV and infrared rays of the sun, State Farm reports these roofs result in a 10% to 25% decrease in cooling bills.

No matter your reason for coming to Florida, you won’t be short of things to do.  If you’re thinking of extending your visit or planning a relocation to Florida, there are many good reasons to move to the Sunshine State.
