Yakezie Challenge

My blog is still in its infancy. In fact, just yesterday I finally activated my new domain name, so this is actually the inaugural post for Thousandaire.com! (without the dash) Don’t be fooled by my impressive website and insane writing skillzzzz; I’m still just a baby!Yakezie

This site has been up for a few months, but I’ve been doing behind the scenes work and only got serious about posting content in the last 2-3 weeks. Thanks to some advice from the Debt Ninja, J Money, and Money Help For Christians, I realized that the best way to attract readers is to be active in the community. If you’re reading this now, you probably got here one of three ways:

  1. Facebook or Twitter
  2. Comments on other great blogs
  3. The Yakezie Network

I was reading about the Yakezie Challenge on the Financial Samurai blog, and I was hooked. I knew right away that I needed to be involved with this network. All the cool kids were doing it! Plus, Yakezie is all about motivating yourself to make a great website and helping others who are writing killer blogs.

When I started the Yakezie challenge about two weeks ago, I started with a rank of 10,374,175. After a few sick posts, my rank on 9/30 with thousand-aire was 2,788,455 and climbing every day! And thanks to Website Grader, I know that means I’m in the top 8.97% of all websites. That’s pretty good for just three weeks of blogging.

My goal in six months is to be on par with my two favorite PF blogs:

Thousandaire vs Others

Now I obviously won’t have 987 pages in six months, but I want to be around the 100,000 range for my Traffic (Alexa) Rank.

It’s not going to be easy, and I could really use your help. Let’s make a deal.

I promise to write phenomenal blog literature, film epic personal finance videos, and post hilarious yet informative music vids if you promise to follow me on twitter, share my links when they are twitter or facebook worthy, and comment on my stuff. Actually I’m gonna do all that other stuff anyway, and if you feel compelled to share with your friends or leave a comment then you’re awesome. If not, I still love you.

To prove that I’m going to keep my end of the bargain, I promise to post the best Roth IRA explanation video you’ve ever seen on Monday next week. Also, get ready for a love ballad music video and a rap collaboration with Debt Ninja next month. It’s gonna be a scary awesome October for thousandaires!

I honestly appreciate you reading my blog and coming along with me on my journey to help people understand money without boring the crap out of them.

  1. I followed a link from Punch Debt over here. I’m reading your stuff. I’m learning about what works, and what doesn’t in blogging. I write my own little blog too. Stop by and say hi. Keep up the good work.

  2. The Saved Quarter

Welcome to Yakezie! It’s a really wonderful network and I’m sure you’ll be a great participant, selflessly promoting others and reaping the rewards in your own Alexa rating. I started with a rating of 9.6 million and am at about 180k now, about 5 months later, with much gratitude toward Yakezie. It definitely can be done!

    1. Thanks TSQ, I’ll definitely have to check it out. Pete knows I could use the help (who is Pete? I don’t know but he sounds cool)

  3. Sandy @ yesiamcheap

Hi Kevin! I’m taking the challenge as well after having my blog fall from under 200K waaaaaaaaaaaay down the ladder when i took 2 months off. Glad to have someone else starting from scratch. Let’s see how we both do. I promise to visit you and try to promote your articles. Good luck.

    1. Alright Sandy, we’ll do this thing together! You’ll have to come back next week when I put up my videos. Maybe it’ll make your “video of the week” 🙂

  4. Financial Samurai

Excellent stuff Kevin! Breaching 200,000 is a great milestone, and breaching 100,000 is an even bigger one!

You’ll meet a lot of cool folks and get a lot of support. And after 6 months, if you want to make thousands of bucks from your blog via the Yakezie, you can too! Just gotta make your blog rock!

    Cheers,

    Sam

    1. Oh my blog is gonna rock! Literally. I’ll probably be a rockstar and go on tour signing all my crazy PF songs six months from now (of course with the help of my Yakezie network spreading the word).

  5. Khaleef @ KNS Financial

Came over from Yakezie. Welcome! This group helped me go from 1,704,000 to 98k in about 9 or 10 weeks! It seems like you have already been in touch with some very successful bloggers!

  6. Welcome to the challenge. I just started also and am trying to figure everything out. I have so much to learn!
