A Kindle 3G is Way Better than Track Shoes

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you were one of the people who voted for me and helped me take 51st place in the Spendster Second Chance contest, which was good for $250. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me! I had a great response to my request for votes and you all made my week!

If you didn’t vote for me, I forgive you but I’m kind of upset about it. To make it up to me, I recommend commenting on this post and/or going to my youtube channel and watching a few of my videos.

Kindle with the light
Here’s my new toy!

I had a nice long winter break to think about what I wanted to spend my winnings on, and I decided to buy a Kindle 3G with accompanying case and reading light.

I don’t read as often as I’d like to, but I do read multiple books every year and I think having the Kindle will help me to read more often. Plus if I always carry it with me, then I’ll always have something to do when I need to kill time, like this week when I had to wait 2.5 hours to meet with an academic advisor.

I’m excited about the Kindle because it has this crazy screen called e-ink that reads just like a book. That means there’s no harsh backlight to hurt my eyes, and I can read it in the bright Texas sun without seeing a glare on the screen! Plus I get free 3G wherever AT&T has service forever! It’s too bad they don’t have coverage in Costa Rica.

“Why do you care about Costa Rica coverage?” you ask? It’s a secret. I’ll tell you in a few days.

I haven’t received the Kindle yet, but when I do it will be a glorious occasion worth celebrating. Maybe I should throw a Kindle Delivery party!

So once again, thank you to everyone who voted for my song/entry to this contest. I included the song below, just in case you haven’t seen it yet. It’s a short, stupid song about the dumbest purchase I’ve ever made.

Enjoy!

  1. Sorry, didn’t vote for you! Had no idea what Spendster Second Chance was – now I know!

Congratulations on the Kindle! Please do write a review! Been on my wish list for while now! Can’t decide between this and the iPad.

    1. No worries, you made it up to me with a comment. ๐Ÿ™‚

I actually don’t have it yet because it’s backordered. I ordered on Dec 31 and it hasn’t even shipped yet. Stupid Amazon! I will do a review when I get it though.

  2. I definitely would have voted for you had I known about it. I didn’t really start my journey in Twitterland until early December. Seems like you did pretty well!

    1. I forgive you. I didn’t find out about the competition until about 3 days before the end of the voting, so I was too far behind at that point to really get up into the top three anyway.

    1. I’ll let you borrow it next time you’re in Dallas, but I definitely get the first read. I think I was like 10% of my votes between my work, home, and mobile browsers ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. My parents bought my husband and me a Kindle for Christmas. I still haven’t messed with it yet – I should get on that…I love the birds screensaver though. ๐Ÿ™‚
